An antique diamond and pearl ring with a difference having a central row of carre set old mine cut diamonds in a yellow gold channel with crown pointed terminals.
To each side is a rose of round split pearls of creamy white colour grain set in yellow channels with pointed terminals. The three gem set rows giving an overall shield shape to the diamond and pearl arrangement. The combined carat weight of the diamonds is approx. 0.72ct and colour and clarity is assessed as H-I and VS respectively.
The shoulders have a pierced four pointed star design continuing to a plain polished D shaped, cross section band. The ring is not hallmarked, it is stamped "18" and tests as 18ct yellow gold. Stamped to the bande is the sponsors' mark HG&S (Henry Griffiths & Sons). Dating from 1900-1910.
