The reverse is inscribed "Champion Club 1894 Holbeck C.C." This dedication is for Holbeck Cricket Club, Holbeck being a district in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK. These shields were often awarded to commemorate sporting success. It is also stamped with the maker's mark of H.B. and the hallmark from the Birmingham Assay Office in the UK for the year 1894.
