A fabulous antique brooch from the Victorian era set with a stunning large oval mixed cut amethyst foil backed to a collet setting within rope twist surround and border of approx. 27 seed pearls, all set within a scroll and star embossed surround with further rope twist edge and suspending an articulated finge of belcher link chain, each chain terminating in a seed pearl accent.
The amethyst measures approx. 16.3mm x 11.7mm with the pearls in the surround being approx. 2.2 to 2.4mm diameter. The pearls at the end of the fringes measure approx. 2.0mm diameter.
The brooch has a woven hair panel in a gold surround engraved with the date "August 17. 1867"
Overall, the brooch measures approx. 0.66 inch x 2.0 inches. It is in very good condition with a pin and hinged closure in good working order. Testing as 18ct yellow gold.
