An Art Deco locket circa 1920's that has engine-turned engraving typical of the era. The locket is round and has been engraved on both sides with a striped pattern of plain polished stripes alternating with a reeded pattern stripe further adorned with a chevron design. At the centre of the front there is a shield shaped cartouche that is engraved with the initials "EL" in an elegant script.
The back of the locket has the hallmark for 9ct gold from the Birmingham Assay Office though, unfortunately, the date letter has not been struck clearly.
The locket measures approx. 1 inch diameter and 0.13 inch deep. It is hinged and has room for photos or keepsakes of your choice. A gold loop to the top enables the locket to move freely along its gold chain.
