This diamond dress clip dates from the early 20th century. It has an pierced metal clip with scroll and ribbon detail and is set with approx. 119 diamonds. The diamonds include an old European cut diamond that measures approx. 3.00mm diameter x 2.00mm deep. There are approx. 86 single cut diamonds that measure from approx. 1.60mm to 1.00m diameter and approx 33 old European cut diamonds that measure from approx. 1.70mm to 1.00mm diameter. All the stones are grain set with millegrain borders.
The clip has a hinged back panel with openwork pattern. Clip is not marked, but XRF testing show the metal to be platinum and it is valued as approx. 900 grade platinum. The back panel has been tested by XRF as approx. 9ct white gold. The clip length is approx. 59.00mm x 22.00mm x 10.00mm.
The estimated principal diamond weight is 0.10ct. The estimated overall diamond weight of the approx. 119 diamonds is 1.40ct. Colour and clarity are assessed as G/H/I and VS-SI.
The condition is very good. The brooch dates from circa 1900 and has a fitted case with a silk lining that reads "By appointment to HM The King, The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd, 112 Regent Street, London W1. Gross item weight 11.82gms.
