An Edwardian diamond and saphire set bar brooch measuring 72mm x 15mm. Centring on a millegrain set old European cut diamond measuring 4.7mm x 2.94mm deep, flanked to top and bottom by four old Swiss cut/old eight cut diamonds 1.5mm diameter. Flanked to either side by nine French/calibre cut, medium blue sapphires measuring from 1.1mm x 1.3mm to 1.5mm x 1.3m.
The brooch is additionally grain set with 52 old eight/old European cut diamonds measuring from 1.3mm to 2.6mm diameter, the brooch also has two rows of five French/calibre cut medium blue sapphires measuring approx 1.1mm x 1.0mm. Fastening with a hinged safety clasp.
Unmarked, except for serial number marked to pin "3083". Testing as platinum for the main section of the brooch and 18ct white gold for the fittings. Calculated weight of the principal diamond is 0.41ct with colour and clarity assessed as F/G and VS2. Calculated total weight of smaller diamonds 1.32ct with colour assessed H-J and clarity SI-I1. Gross item weight 8.45gmgs. Circa 1900-1910.
